If you plan on relocating to Greece, then you may have heard someone mention “Taxisnet” during the process of setting yourself up (or your family) in this country.
Taxisnet, now part of the myaade.gov.gr platform, is the official online system of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue used to manage your tax obligations in Greece. Once you complete your AFM application through your assigned DOY (Dimosia Oikonomiki Ypiresia), or local tax office, you are registered in the system and can access Taxisnet. It functions as your central tax profile, where key information such as tax filings, leases, contracts, and other financial details are recorded.
For foreigners moving to Greece or planning on living in Greece long-term, setting up Taxisnet is essential, as it allows you to file tax returns and stay compliant with Greek tax residency rules.
The main purpose of Taxisnet is to fill out and submit tax returns, especially if you are employed by a Greek company in Greece or if you have set up your own business here. Taxisnet acts as an important archive that keeps and updates all of your personal information, including your income, rental history, tax and financial status that may need to be shown to the tax authorities.
In order to sign a rental agreement, you must have a Taxisnet account. The same applies if you want to purchase a property in Greece. Your Taxisnet profile will hold all of the previous records of accommodation, and if you’re planning on securing residency, your rental lease on Taxisnet will be required for your Greek residency application, such as in the case of applying under the FIP (Financially Independent Person) and the Digital Nomad Visas programs.
As mentioned previously, Taxisnet is used to manage and declare your taxes in Greece. Once you have your Greek Tax Identification number (TIN) or AFM number, you must register on Taxisnet in order to file annual tax returns, view tax obligations, and stay compliant with Greece’s tax residency rules.
For expats moving to Greece, setting up access to Taxisnet is a crucial step, especially if you plan on living in Greece long-term or becoming a tax resident. The platform is entirely in Greek, which can make it challenging to navigate without support, so many expats choose to work with expat consulting Greece services, such as My Greek Expat Journey to ensure everything is submitted correctly and on time.
If you need assistance with obtaining your TaxisNet credentials alongside your AFM, contact our team or read our post about obtaining a TIN, or Greek Tax Number.
There is no specific "Taxisnet number" per se, but you will need a Greek TIN or AFM number in order to open a Taxisnet account. The local tax authorities of Greece, or DOY (Dimosia Oikonomiki Ypiresia), are in charge of issuing you a username and password to activate your Taxisnet account.
The documents that you need to open the Taxisnet account are the same as the ones needed to obtain a Greek TIN or AFM.
Here is the following information you will need to open a Taxisnet account:
In order to log into Taxisnet, you must obtain your official username and password, which is typically issued after acquiring an AFM, or Greek Tax Number. You can obtain an AFM either by visiting a foreign tax office in Greece, or eforia, or by hiring a local tax representative in order to open your Taxisnet account.
The subscription key is provided by the DOY, or local tax office along with your Taxisnet credentials, and it is used for retrieving your password in case you have lost access to it. In order to successfully reset your password, however, you must always remember your username.
