Moving to a new country often means learning how to navigate a new system. It can be overwhelming and challenging for someone who is trying to adapt to the new structure. For expats who are looking to relocate to Greece and becoming a resident, they must learn how to use myAADE, formerly known as Taxisnet. (Note: these terms are used interchangeably, but designate the same portal.)
Taxisnet, also known as "myAADE", is a digital portal accessible to all citizens and businesses who are located or reside in Greece. Established by the Hellenic Public Revenue Service (Greek version of IRS), the online portal gives access to personal details, make important transactions, and submit your annual tax declarations. In other words, Taxisnet is a centralized database that keeps track of all of your important documents, such as leases, contracts, pending debts, and tax filings.
By having access to Taxisnet, you can easily:
Obtaining your credentials to access the digital portal of "myAade" or Taxisnet is useful for any foreign resident in Greece to finalize any important transaction, such as rentals, home purchases or filing an annual tax declaration. These documents are also requested when opening a bank account at a local bank branch in Greece.
To obtain your Taxisnet credentials, you must first obtain an AFM, which is a Greek Tax Payer Identification number. The username and password to access Taxisnet or MyAade are usually given at the same time as receiving the AFM number, by the relevant tax office in Greece, or through a tax representative.
If you have lost your Taxisnet credentials, you can find them in the original form or piece of paper that was given to you by the tax office or appointed tax representative. If you can't remember your password, you must access this specific link in order to reset it. (Note: to reset your password, you must remember your username and authentication or subscription key).
To log into the online platform of Taxisnet, follow these steps:
Note: the online portal is currently missing an English translation of the menus and functionalities, so having a Greek speaker to navigate you through this platform is crucial. Alternatively, you can also install a Google Translate extension if you are growing on Chrome, or download DeepL on your computer or device to help you navigate the language difficulties.
